Soloist of the Academic Song and Dance Ensemble of the Russian National Guard Troops. He has been with the Ensemble since its foundation in September 1973. During this period, his hard work has achieved extraordinary popularity among the soldiers of the internal troops. He is one of the leading soloists of the band. A serious artist, always demanding of himself. He is constantly working on improving his professional level. His magnificent stage skills made his performances one of the most striking in the Ensemble's programs.

He repeatedly participated and won All–Union and All-Russian vocal competitions - 1971. "Hello, we are looking for talents", 1978. "With a song for life". In 1981, he was awarded the title of "Honored Artist of Russia" for his outstanding achievements in the field of vocal art, and in 1998 he was awarded the honorary title of "People's Artist of the Russian Federation".

He has repeatedly represented Russian national art abroad in Czechoslovakia, the GDR, the DPRK, Brazil, Mexico, European countries and many others, where his performances have enjoyed continued success.

As part of ensuring the work of the G8 summit, V.K. Romanov addressed the participants of the meetings of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Prosecutor's Office, and the Ministry of Justice. He participated with the Ensemble in a historic meeting in the Vatican with the head of the Roman Catholic Church, John Paul II. He also participated in cultural support for meetings of the Ministry of Security and the Military Police of the People's Republic of China, meetings with the German Interior Ministry in Tomsk and other receptions of foreign delegations through the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in Moscow. His performance in March 2005 at a concert for children of school No. 1 in Beslan was particularly memorable. By participating in concert tours organized on the initiative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia and the Government of Moscow, V.K. Romanov made a great contribution to strengthening friendship and cooperation between the fraternal peoples of the former Soviet republics.
