In the artistic synthesis of all the constituent units of the Song and Dance Ensemble (choir, soloists, orchestra, and ballet), the choir is the most fundamental. This is evidenced by its great demand in the ensemble's concert programs, numerous sound and video recordings, first performances and popularization of new works by contemporary composers.
The choir, as a creative unit, was established simultaneously with the creation of the Ensemble in the early 1970s. When the professional Ensemble began to form, the choir group already had more than 20 members.
From 1973 to 1985 the choirmaster of the ensemble, and then the chief choirmaster was V.P. Eliseev (since 1985. - Head, Artistic Director and Principal Conductor of the Ensemble, one of the most outstanding Russian choral conductors of our time)
