ORCHESTRAL GROUP

OF THE ACADEMIC SONG AND DANCE ENSEMBLE OF THE NATIONAL GUARD OF THE RUSSIAN FEDERATION

MUSIC STARTS WITH THE ORCHESTRA

The orchestra is the connecting, cementing link within the structure of the Ensemble due to its main function - accompanying. And only with the accompanying of the orchestra it is possible for all other creative groups of the Ensemble to perform to their full extent: chorus, ballet, and soloists. However, the performing tasks of the orchestra are not exclusively limited to this. Its repertoire also includes purely instrumental works: overtures, symphonic works, works with solo instruments such as saxophone, trombone, violin, balalaika, trumpet trio, and Russian folk wind instruments.

HEAD OF THE ORCHESTRA - HONORED ARTIST OF THE RUSSIAN FEDERATION - ALEXEY VALERYEVICH MAZANOV

Since 2010 the orchestra has been led by Honored Artist of Russia - Alexei Mazanov. Under his leadership, the orchestra has significantly expanded its repertoire and acquired new timbre and dynamic capabilities.

Following the traditions laid down by his predecessors, A.V. Mazanov seeks for new forms in his work, while achieving precision and coherence in the performance, balance in the sound of the groups, and brightness of the orchestral palette and stylistic accuarcy. Conducting combined rehearsals with the chorus, ballet, and soloists, A.V. Mazanov achieves unity in solving artistic tasks, which works for a single common result - the creation of a highly artistic and original work of art

MASTERY IN EVERY SOUND: THE LINE-UP OF THE ORCHESTRA
All musicians of the orchestra are highly qualified specialists. The vast majority of them are graduates of prestigious music universities of the country: Tchaikovsky Moscow State College, Gnessin Russian Academy of Music, Rimsky-Korsakov St. Petersburg State Academic Music College, Glinka National National Academic Music College, M.I. Mussorgsky Ural State Academic Music College, and others. Some of them continued their studies in assistantships. Among the artists of the orchestra there are participants and laureates of All-Russian and international competitions. 15 artists have honorary titles of the republics that make up the Russian Federation, and three have been awarded the title of “Honored artist of Russia”. The orchestra's concertmaster is Danila Korenev, Honored artist of the Republic of Ingushetia and the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania
Some of the orchestra groups can act as separate creative units: a string orchestra, a quartet of balalaika players, a brass quintet (which in its expanded form is transformed into an ensemble of brass instruments).

SOUND OF THE ORCHESTRA: CONCERT PROGRAMS

STRING ORCHESTRA
01
HEAD: Vitaly Kuznetsov
The string orchestra under the direction of Honored Artist of Russia, Vitaly Kuznetsov performs mainly classical chamber music, accompanying instrumental soloists. A program of romances by Russian composers performed by soloists of the Ensemble deserves special attention
BALALAIKA QUARTET
02
HEAD: Ivan Stepanov
The quartet of balalaika players under the direction of Ivan Stepanov is the jewel of the orchestra. The repertoire of this group is very original and diverse: from folk melodies to rock ballads. A piece performed by the quartet often becomes the highlight of the program and a resounding success with the audience at the ensemble's general concerts
SMALLER ENSEMBLE
03
HEAD: Dmitry Svistunov
In addition to the ensembles mentioned above, the orchestra also has a so-called smaller ensemble, a small pop orchestra consisting of 12 members, in which the solo is often entrusted to the leading saxophone soloist, Honored Artist of the Republic of Ingushetia, Dmitry Svistunov. People's Artists of Russia, Vladimir Romanov and Grigory Pinyasov, performed several programs of Soviet songs with this line-up
BRASS QUINTET
04
HEAD: Pavel Arinin
Brass Quintet, led by Pavel Arinin, Honored Artist of the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania, is the most mobile and unpretentious ensemble in terms of stage performance: it can perform even on the stairs and without any sound-amplifying equipment. Its repertoire includes Russian and foreign brass music, pop music, and jazz standards. Another musician, percussionist Roman Rogozhin, Honored artist of the Republic of Ingushetia, often joins the extended line-up of the brass ensemble that forms the nonet
Conductors of the orchestra: Gleb Kardasevich, Alexei Mazanov - Honored Artist of Russia, and Vitaly Kuznetsov - Honored Artist of Russia

MUSIC WITH NO LIMITS

The orchestra takes an active part in the ensemble's touring performances both abroad and within the country. The quantitative line-up of the orchestra can vary from the full to the minimal of 5-8 people. A memorable page in the life of the ensemble was the working trip of the Minister of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation, R.G. Nurgaliev, to Shanghai, where within the framework of the cultural part of the event, two orchestras met on stage: our orchestra consisting of 5 people and the orchestra of the Chinese Police in the number of 200. In terms of emotional impact, our orchestra was in no way inferior to the Chinese orchestra, and maybe even surpassed it, if we take the audience's applause as an estimate.

Such a small ensemble is especially valuable due to its mobility in “hot spots”, which the orchestra has visited many times, where the stage can be a military tent, a dugout, a truck bed with folded sides, or a hospital room

THE ACCOMPANIMENT OF SOLOISTS IS OFTEN ENTRUSTED TO ONE SINGLE MUSICIAN, A PERFORMER-BAYANIST. HE IS A RECOGNIZED AUTHORITY WITHIN THE ENSEMBLE, A HIGHLY EXPERIENCED ACCORDIONIST-VIRTUOSO, VETERAN OF THE ENSEMBLE AND HONORED ARTIST OF RUSSIA, ANDREY KRAVETSKY
HE GENEROUSLY SHARES HIS YEARS OF EXPERIENCE WITH THE OTHER ACCORDIONISTS IN THE ORCHESTRA

ORCHESTRA STUDIO:
HIGH-END SOUND

Recording music at the Ensemble's studio is an integral part of the orchestra's work. Due to the high quality of its performance, it is trusted to record phonograms not only by its own soloists, but also by many popular Russian artists, such as O. Gazmanov, A. Nikolsky, I. Reznik, N. Baskov, V. Biryukova, A. Spiridonova, A. Abdrazakov, S. Volchkov, and many others
