Speech at an event dedicated to Heroes of the Fatherland Day

On December 9, 2019, Russia once again celebrated a memorable date, which is known as Heroes of the Fatherland Day in the official calendar. This year, Heroes of Russia Day was celebrated for the twelfth time. The date was first added to the calendar as a memorable day in 2007, following the amendments made to the Federal Law "On Days of Military Glory and Memorable Dates in Russia" by the Decree of the President of the Russian Federation dated December 24, 2007.

The day of celebrating Heroes of the Fatherland was chosen for a reason. December 9 is the day when one of the most honorable military awards, the Order of St. George the Victorious, was established in the Russian Empire, and this day was celebrated in Russia as the Day of the St. George Knight.

On this festive day, a gala event dedicated to Heroes of the Fatherland Day was held at the State Kremlin Palace, attended by veterans of the Great Patriotic War, combatants, veterans of the armed forces, the National Guard, and their families.

According to the established tradition, the Academic Ensemble of Songs and Dances of the National Guard Troops of the Russian Federation, led by People's Artist of Russia, Major General Viktor Yeliseyev, took part in the festive concert.

Accompanied by a choir and an orchestra, the songs were performed by People's Artist of the USSR, Hero of Labor of Russia Vasily Lanovoy, People's Artists of Russia Lev Leshchenko, Mikhail Nozhkin, Tamara Gverdtsiteli, and other artists.

The participants of the event and the audience at the Kremlin Palace were particularly impressed by the song "Ah, if only the earth could speak," beautifully performed by Natalia Eliseeva, an Honored Artist of Russia, accompanied by the choir and orchestra of the Academic Ensemble of Songs and Dances of the National Guard of the Russian Federation.

The festive concert ended with the song "Forward, Russia" performed by the choir of the Academic Ensemble of Songs and Dances of the National Guard Troops of the Russian Federation.
