"Independence, Peace, and Friendship" is the motto of the April Spring International Friendship and Art Festival, which is held every two years in the capital of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, Pyongyang.

Gathering the best performers of vocal, choreographic and circus art from different countries, the festival promotes the strengthening of friendship and creative ties between nations. In 2026, the April Spring will be held for the 34th time.

In the DPRK, the work of the Academic Order of Merit in Culture and the Arts of the Ensemble of Songs and Dances of the National Guard Troops of the Russian Federation, led by the Artistic Director and Chief Conductor, People's Artist of Russia, Major General, Hero of Labor of Russia Viktor Eliseev, is well-known and beloved. The Ensemble has repeatedly visited the DPRK on tour, and each performance has been a great success with the Korean audience. The Ensemble's participation in the April Spring Festival has become a tradition.

The video recording of the Ensemble's festival concert took place on February 11, 2026, at the Moscow State Academic Russian Song Theatre, directed by N.G. Babkina.

At the beginning of the concert, the Ensemble performed two Korean songs: "Song about Comrade Kim Il Sung" (soloist: Honored Artist of the Republic of Ingushetia Grigory Yakovlev) and "Song about Comrade Kim Jong Il".

The concert program was dominated by vocal and choreographic works on military and patriotic themes: "Song of Russian Glory" (music by S. Babloeva, music by A. Fedotov, soloists-Honored Artist of the Republic of North Ossetia – Alania Evgeny Yakhin, Honored Artist of the Republic of Ingushetia Grigory Yakovlev, Dmitry Dolgiy, Daniil Marakhin)," Song of Gunners " (music by T. The Ensemble's repertoire is characterized by a wide variety of works. The program of the festival concert includes works of various genres: classical, folk and popular music-the old romance " The Bell Rattles Monotonously "(music by A. Gurileva, sl. I. Makarov, arranged by A. Rosenblat, soloist-Alexander Kochov), the Russian folk song "Down the Mother River, along the Volga" (arranged by V. Belyaev, soloist-Alexander Starodubrovsky), medley on Belarusian songs (soloists-Alexander Kochov, Grigory Yakovlev, Viktor Lezhnin, Konstantin Kuzmin, Alexey Bosykh), the song "The Lake Sleeps" by the German composer of the XIX century Heinrich Pfeil (performed in a cappella), step "Walk along the Black Sea Coast" (music by A. Kroll, sl. d. Mudugno, arranged by N. Druzhenkov, sl. A. Novozhilov, choreography by A. Fradkin, lyrics by M. Plyatskovsky, performed by Honored Artists of the Republic of Buryatia Ruslan Samozhapov and Norpol Tsydenov).

A remarkable tradition of the Ensemble is the inclusion of their national works in concert programs addressed to the peoples of foreign countries. In addition to the two songs in Korean that were performed at the very beginning of the concert, today (by a quartet of balalaika players led by Ivan Stepanov) an instrumental composition was performed – a fantasy on the themes of Russian and Korean songs.

The concert ended with a performance (in Korean) of an anthem dedicated to the great leader of the Korean people, Comrade Kim Jong-un.

The concert was hosted by the Deputy Head of the Ensemble for Artistic Affairs, Honored Artist of the Russian Federation, Honored Worker of Culture of the Russian Federation, Honorary Officer of the Federal Service of the National Guard Troops of the Russian Federation, Colonel Igor Shustikov.
