These days, the global community is celebrating the 78th anniversary of the end of World War II. The fifth anniversary of the international educational and patriotic event "Victory Dictation" was dedicated to this historic event and took place on April 27, 2023, at regional venues across Russia, abroad, and online on the official website of the event dictation.ru.
The international Victory Dictation campaign has been held since 2019 as part of the Historical Memory project, which was initiated by the United Russia party. The main goal of the event is to spark the interest of Russian and foreign participants in the heroic past of our country, to increase historical literacy, and to promote patriotic education among young people. This year, the Victory Dictation theme includes questions about the Battle of Stalingrad, the Battle of Kursk, the liberation of Donbass from the Nazis, and the breakthrough of the Siege of Leningrad.
The central venue for the Victory Dictation has traditionally been the Central Museum of the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945 on Poklonnaya Hill in Moscow.
The coordinator of the Historical Memory project, Chairman of the State Duma Committee of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation on Information Policy, Information Technologies and Communications Alexander Khinshtein, addressed a greeting to the participants of the Victory Dictation.
“For every Russian, knowing the history of the Great Patriotic War and respecting our veterans is a sacred duty and obligation, a moral feature that will never allow us to forget our history. Every year, the number of participants in the action increases. This year, it was written in cities and villages, on ships and Arctic stations, railway stations and airports, on many iconic sites in the Patriot Park, in the Orlyonok children's center, in the Derbent fortress, in space on the International Space Station, and even at an altitude of 10,000 meters – it was written by passengers of the "southern" flight of the Yamal airline, – said Alexander Khinshtein.
“The Victory Dictation and participation in this historical and patriotic event is a true act of citizenship and, at the same time, a worthy way to pay tribute and respect to our fathers and grandfathers,” said the Chairman of the Russian Historical Society Sergey Naryshkin.
Before the start of the event, the participants of the Victory Dictation were welcomed by the Academic Ensemble of Song and Dance of the National Guard Troops of the Russian Federation, led by the Artistic Director and Chief Conductor, People's Artist of Russia, Major General Viktor Eliseev.
