This is the third time that the International Historical Dictation on the events of the Great Patriotic War has been held. The main goal of this educational event is to involve the general public in studying the history of the Great Patriotic War and to increase historical literacy and patriotic education among young people.
Almost 16,000 venues in Russia and abroad – in total, in 80 countries around the world, with the support of the permanent Organizing Committee of the All-Russian political party United Russia are hosting today the participants of the International historical action “Victory Dictation”, dedicated to the events of the Great Patriotic War.
Any citizen of Russia and foreign countries could take part in this event, both in person and online on the website of Dictation of Victory.
The dictation tasks were devoted to significant dates, events, military geography, historical figures, fiction, and works of fine and monumental art.
The Central starting point of the International educational and patriotic action “Victory Dictation” according to the established tradition became the Central Museum of the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945 on Poklonnaya Hill.
Alexander Khinshtein, the coordinator of the Historical Memory project and Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Information Policy, Information Technologies, and Communications, addressed a greeting to the participants of the Victory Dictation project. "As before, the questions for the exam were prepared by experts from the Russian Historical Society, the Russian Military History Society, and the Russian State University for the Humanities. The participants of the Dictation will have to complete 25 tasks and answer 20 questions on general military history and 5 questions on regional topics," explained Alexander Khinshtein.
Before the start of the Victory Dictation, the song "The Fourth Day of the War" (music and lyrics by V. Tretyakov) was performed by the popular singer Alexander Kogan and the choir of the Academic Ensemble of Songs and Dances of the National Guard Troops of the Russian Federation, under the direction of the artistic director and chief conductor, People's Artist of Russia, Major General Viktor Yeliseyev. The song "The Fourth Day of the War" was chosen as a greeting for the participants of the Victory Dictation for a reason. It perfectly matches the mood of the event. The audience greeted the ensemble members with prolonged applause.
The event was attended by participants in the defense of Moscow, veterans of the Great Patriotic War, home front workers, and representatives of public organizations in the capital.
The event is being held with the support of the Russian Ministry of Education. The organizers of the event are the United Russia Party, the Russian Historical Society, the Russian Military History Society, and the Victory Volunteers movement. The event was broadcast on the Russia-24 TV channel.
