Performance at the Municipal Cultural Center of Sasovo

In the city of Sasovo, Ryazan Region, on June 30 - July 1, 2023, the XXVI All-Russian Festival of Folk Art dedicated to the composer A.P. Averkin is taking place.

Since 1997, the All-Russian Festival of Folk Art dedicated to Alexander Petrovich Averkin, an Honored Artist of Russia and a composer, has been held in Sasovo, with the support of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation, the Government of the Ryazan Region, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Ryazan Region, the Ryazan Regional Scientific and Methodological Center for Folk Art, and the administration of the city of Sasovo. The origins of the Averkin Festival can be traced back to the work of Lyudmila Georgievna Zykina, a People's Artist of the USSR. This year marks the 26th anniversary of the All-Russian Festival of Folk Art dedicated to the composer A.P. Averkin.

As part of the All-Russian Festival of Folk Art, on June 30, 2023, a concert was held at the Municipal Cultural Center in Sasovo by the Academic Ensemble of Songs and Dances of the National Guard Troops of the Russian Federation, led by the artistic director and chief conductor, People's Artist of Russia, Major General Viktor Eliseev.

The concert opened with the song "You, My Russia" (music by S. Tulikov, lyrics by S. Ostrovoy) performed by the Ensemble's soloist, People's Artist of Russia Natalia Eliseeva. The audience warmly welcomed the Ensemble's soloist with prolonged applause.

The concert featured songs from the Great Patriotic War, including "The Artillerymen's March" (T. Khrennikov, V. Gusev) and "The Song of War Correspondents" (M. Blanter, K. Simonov, performed by Alexey Kholyavko, an Honored Artist of the Republic of Dagestan).

The Soldier's Suite, arranged by A. Kukharenko, was performed by Alexander Kokhov, Honored Artist of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic, Igor Safonov, Honored Artist of the Republic of Ingushetia, Mikhail Zaraev and Evgeny Yakhin, Honored Artists of the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania, Konstantin Kuzmin, Alexey Bosykh, and Viktor Lezhnin.

Audiences of all generations enjoy folk songs performed by the Ensemble's artists. The song "The Cossack Was Riding" was performed by the Ensemble's soloist Dmitry Dolgiy,

The quartet of balalaika players led by Ivan Stepanov presented to the audience the fiery composition "Ural Dance".

The performances of the Ensemble's soloist, People's Artist of Russia Natalia Eliseeva, always bring delight to the audience. In the festive concert, the singer performed the lyrical song "Give Me a Handkerchief" (music by G.Ponomarenko, lyrics by M.Agashina) with great emotion.

Russian romance «Not for me» (N. Devitte, A. Molchanov) was performed by the choir and soloist of the Ensemble, Honored Artist of the Republic of Ingushetia Igor Safonov. The song «Marusya» from the film «Ivan Vasilyevich Changes Profession» (A. Zatsepin, L. Derbenyov) was performed by the soloist of the Ensemble, People's Artist of Russia Grigory Pinyasov.

The song "I'll Go Out to the Field with a Horse at Night" (I. Matvienko - A. Shaganov) was performed by the Vocal Octet of the Ensemble (directed by Sergey Bazylko, Honored Artist of the Republic of Ingushetia).

The aria of Calaf from Giacomo Puccini's opera Turandot was performed by the soloist of the Ensemble, Honored Artist of Russia Alexey Volzhanin.

The ballet group of the Ensemble performed the dance "Home with Victory", the sailor dance "Yabloko", the choreographic composition "Golden Khokhloma" (directed by Honored Artist of Russia Peter Kovalev).

The vocal and dance composition "Gypsy Fantasy" (arranged by I. Golubev and I. Kadomtsev) was performed by the soloists: People's Artist of Russia Natalia Eliseeva, Honored Artist of Russia Alexey Dmitriev, and Evgeny Nasonov

The legendary "Smuglyanka" (by A. Novikov and Ya. Shvedov) was performed by Grigory Yakovlev, an Honored Artist of the Republic of Ingushetia.

The heroic song "For Donbass" (by Sergey Voytenko and Alexander Ganichev) was performed by Alexey Kholyavko, an Honored Artist of the Republic of Dagestan.

The song about the Rosgvardiya soldiers "Valor and Honor" (written by A.V. Zaitsev) was performed by Honored Artist of Russia Alexey Dmitriev, the choir and orchestra of the Academic Song and Dance Ensemble of the National Guard Troops of the Russian Federation.

The festive concert traditionally ended with the march "Farewell, Slavonic" (V. Agapkin, V. Lazarev). The grateful audience did not let their beloved artists go for a long time, giving them a long round of applause.

The concert was hosted by the Honored Worker of Culture of the Russian Federation, Honored Artist of Russia, Colonel Igor Shustikov.

Participation in a festival dedicated to the composer A. P. Averkin

One of the glorious traditions of Russian musical culture is the annual (since 1997) All-Russian Festival of Folk Art in memory of Alexander Averkin, an Honored Artist of Russia and a composer, held in the Sasovo Municipal District of the Ryazan Region. In 2026, the XXIX All-Russian Festival of Folk Art, dedicated to the composer A.P. Averkin, combines two themes. The main theme of the event is the memory and creative legacy of Alexander Petrovich Averkin, the author of over 800 works that remain popular today. But the fact that this year's festival is being held in the composer's homeland gives it a special significance. Exactly 100 years ago, in the summer of 1926, the village of Sasovo was officially declared a city by the Presidium of the All-Russian Central Executive Committee.

Recognition of merit

Following a long-standing tradition, on the eve of the summer vacation season, the Academic Order of Merit in Culture and Arts Ensemble of Songs and Dances of the National Guard Troops of the Russian Federation held a general meeting of the collective. At the meeting held on July 1, 2026, the artistic director and chief conductor of the Ensemble, People's Artist of Russia, Major General, and Hero of Labor of Russia, Viktor Petrovich Eliseev, summarized the results of the collective's creative activities for the period from January to June 2026. He proudly noted the consistently high level of the artists’ performing skills and the Ensemble’s rich concert program, which was highly successful with the audience, including during the tour performances across the country and performances at the country’s iconic venues – the State Kremlin Palace, the Tchaikovsky Concert Hall, the Great Hall of the Conservatory, the Church Cathedral Hall of the Cathedral of Christ the Savior, as well as at the Main Clinical Hospital of the National Guard in Balashikha. He emphasized the great contribution of the Ensemble’s artists to the patriotic education of the younger generation and the support of the military personnel’s fighting spirit.
