The profession of a geologist has always been considered one of the most important and honorable professions in our country. Emperor Peter I, who established the Order of Ore Mining in 1700, placed great importance on geology. The active development of geology began in the mid-20th century, following the discovery of mineral deposits in the West Siberian Oil and Gas Province, one of the largest oil and gas basins in the world. On March 31, 1966, the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR issued a decree establishing the Day of the Geologist in our country.

On this day, not only scientists, but also miners, surveyors, and representatives of other related professions who are engaged in the search for minerals, such as geochemists, geophysicists, explosives specialists, mine workers, drillers, and specialized engineers, consider themselves the heroes of the day.

The gala event and festive concert dedicated to the 60th anniversary of the establishment of the Geologist's Day took place on March 31, 2026, at the State Kremlin Palace. The hall was filled with researchers, production leaders, and industry veterans.

The Minister of Natural Resources and Environment of the Russian Federation Alexander Kozlov and the Head of the Federal Agency for Subsoil Use Oleg Kazanov addressed the audience with words of welcome.

The Minister emphasized that the Russian school of geology is considered one of the strongest in the world. He noted that the key objective of geological exploration is to strengthen the country's raw materials sovereignty, and expressed confidence that the industry's specialists will be able to handle the most challenging tasks. Alexander Kozlov and Oleg Kazanov congratulated all geologists on their professional holiday and wished them new discoveries and the successful implementation of their plans. State and departmental awards were presented to the most distinguished scientists, engineers, and geologists.

As part of the gala event, a gala concert was held with the participation of the stars of the national variety. All the numbers of the concert program were performed today accompanied by the orchestra of the Academic Order of Merit in Culture and Arts of the Ensemble of Song and Dance of the National Guard Troops of the Russian Federation under the direction of the Artistic Director and Chief Conductor, People's Artist of Russia, Major General, Hero of Labor of Russia Victor Eliseev.

The Ensemble's choir and artists from the Creative Center of Angelina Shkarupina "Brosko" performed the song "Looking into the Blue Lakes" (L. Afanasyev - I. Shaferan; soloist - Elena Maksimova), which is loved by several generations of Russians, and the song "Ah, My Soul!" (music and lyrics by G.
